The best food packaging design award goes to…Bell & Loxton!

Bell and Loxton are award-winning producers of cold-pressed rapeseed oil, grown, pressed and bottled on the family farm with full traceability. They create “award-winning oil in award-winning packaging.” In fact, they have had some huge recognition for their 100% natural, premium packaging:

Rachael, the Marketing Director of Bell & Loxton, says “Just thought I’d let you know we won best food packaging design for the second year running with Food and Drink Devon.”

Logo design challenges Bell & Loxton had to overcome

As professionals in the food industry, Bell and Loxton have encountered specific challenges that we have effectively addressed to develop a captivating logo that leaves a lasting impact and provide the best food packaging design for them.

1. Representation of brand identity: it can be a challenge to create a logo for a company in the food industry that reflects the identity and values of the company – it’s important to design a logo which conveys the business’s chosen aspects, such as freshness, quality, taste and authenticity. Therefore, design elements must be chosen carefully to convey these important attributes of the business and its brand identity.

2. Versatility and scalability: the designed logo for a business in the food industry is likely to be placed across a range of mediums, from product packaging to digital platforms and signage. This is why designing a logo that is versatile and scalable across different applications is essential in order to maintain professionalism and the high quality of the brand.

3. Differentiation in a saturated market: why should you choose this food company over a different one? A well-designed logo may aid your decision more than you think! With the highly competitive food industry, a logo that stands out from the crowd and differentiates itself from its competitors is a sign the company is on the right path.

Our final result of the logo creation is a bold white font featuring the company’s name positioned behind a black and dark gold background. These colours, combined with the company name, create an organic and premium look, while also creating a sense of friendliness and nature-loving through the typography use.

Best food packaging design – how did Bell and Loxton achieve this?

Bell & Loxton wanted to create a brand identity that would reinforce their commitment towards a sustainable, organic business that is known for producing, organic, award-winning premium rapeseed oil

This is why a packaging design was needed to Portray the company as a trusting figure offering the finest-quality home cooking oils.

Their commitment towards sustainability can instantly be seen through their choice of an aluminium bottle – not only does this material choice take up less space in the home and won’t break when knocked over, but aluminium is also more environment friendly than glass. Now who doesn’t want to purchase from a company that takes the environment seriously?

On the sticker, several elegant and dark golden trees add a touch of natural and organic imagery. The brand name, ‘Bell & Loxton, ‘ is positioned prominently on the sticker,’ written in a bold and thick font. The letters are eye-catching and stand out, grabbing the viewer’s attention. The font combines white and black, creating a visually appealing contrast against the dark golden background.

Additionally, the packaging includes a noteworthy ‘Great Taste’ award sticker, indicating the product’s recognition and quality. This sticker further adds credibility and reinforces the trustworthiness of the brand.

How can a logo design help my business?

Regardless of whether you are a start-up, in the athletic foods industry or any other business industry, trust if your key to unlocking the doors to business success and attracting the customers you are working so hard to acquire. A great logo makes this process easier.

With a great logo, you can reach people quickly and easily by making an immediate visual impact. The purpose of your logo should be a way to connect with your customers in a way that becomes recognisable, reassuring and reliable – how do you want your customers to feel when they see your logo?
